Angel tragically passed from our lives on the
evening of February 22, 2004.
I have never worked with a blind and deaf baby before and Angel made it entertaining and an easy pleasure to be our first experience. She was the most loving, easily happy, top of the pack, A+ kisser and snuggler, I could ever have asked for. She was clever, forever figuring things out to gain what she wanted, to our constant amusement.
She was a puppy mill dog purchased to produce babies to define her existence and make her a value to keep alive. When she was used up, full of heartworms, deaf (probably from birth), and blind with cataracts, her usefulness ended and she was sent to the dog pound.
With such a history, Angel proved to appreciate her foster and forever home humans despite all this. The love, care and attention that the French Bulldog Rescue Network brought to this loving baby will never be forgotten in this life and beyond.
When I saw her picture on the FBRN website, somehow, I knew she was the one we were supposed to open our home to. I read her bio and then approached adopting this beautiful angel with trepidation, and it did not take long for us to build intense excitement for her to come to know our home as hers.
Angel was so fortunate to gain some sight after her cataract surgery, FBRN was so generous to support. I feel that this enhanced her life immeasurably. Her daily supplements, raw diet, homeopathic and herbal medicines helped her overcome most of her other disabilities. She became so animated in such a short period of time, doing spins, jumping up on us with her out stretched forepaws.
I will miss all the laughter, fun, and love she provided to our home. I couldn't imagine life without her and know somehow she will remain with us always in spirit. I will miss her snuggling between us in bed, snoring blissfully on our pillows all night long and her warm kisses in the morning. I will miss her wiggle butt run, jumping over things in the yard, spinning with excitement. I miss that bark with purpose, snorts, snuggles on the sofa, my TV buddy, and chest warmer.
Angel is one of the kindest souls I have experienced in my life. She was so forgiving, so grateful, so happy. I only wish that we could have been together for a very long time, she is missed soooo much.
Someone once wrote: One man's trash is another one's treasure.
Angel was OUR TREASURE and always will be. We will meet again over the rainbow bridge someday, and continue all the love that she deserves. She will forever remain in our hearts. I love you Angel!!!!!
Warmly,
Robin L. Cannizzaro and Debbie Cappola
